Aly Cissokho is set to Sign for Porto On Loan

Aly Cissokho is set to move to Porto on a season long loan deal. Cissokho was brought in by Lambert last season for £3.5 million from Valencia. Cissokho started as Aston Villa’s first choice left-back, but wasn’t favoured under Sherwood because Cissokho isn’t a very attacking left-back. With the arrival of Jordan Amavi and Sherwood liking Bennett both Cissokho and Richardson don’t have a future at Aston Villa. Luna has already left for Eibar on a free transfer.

The 27-year old has reportedly flown into Portugal and is set to finalise a season loan deal with Porto. Cissokho played for Porto in the 2009 season before moving to Lyon for a €15 million the following season. The deal reportedly includes a permanent transfer clause which can be activated at the end of the 2015/16 season.

I did think that when Cissokho joined Aston Villa that he’d be our solution for at least two seasons, unfortunately it wasn’t the case. Cissokho was obviously not our worst left-back at the club for the past few years, some say that he was one of our more solid left-backs throughout the years. But with the addition of Amavi, it seems as though there is no place for Cissokho and he is clearly not rated by Sherwood. I’d feel as though Cissokho would be the perfect back up to Amavi.

  1. again we see a media feeding frenzy over nothing at the expense of the villa, can you imagine the meltdown if we do sign adebayor and he gets subbed and pulls a face, that will make news at ten never mind sky sports.i think we can take it then the media dont like us.

    1. At least we are getting a mention in the media and what is they say? There’s no such thing as bad publicity.
Under Lambert we fell right off the radar.

Media never liked is since we beat Ipswich to title then had the audacity to win the EC the next year. Disgraceful behaviour from our football team!

      1. Seems like yesterday mate, can you believe it was 35 years ago? F**k me that makes me feel old.

Then I guess you are actually old!! 🙂
BWS, there’s only one thing worse than getting old, and that’s not getting old!
Frankly, I hope the Scousers have a torrid season. Bleeding hate them. Sod Benteke and Delph. I’m looking forward to 3pm Saturday. 2-0 Villa.

          1. Lol you can’t argue with that BB.

          2. As for tomorrows game who knows? They looked a good outfit in Championship but they’re untested at this level and we’re a new team that needs time to gel.
Prediction? With no form to go on it’s anybody’s guess so I’ll sit on the fence – 1-1 draw.

This could be an interesting game; as BWS says, no form to go on, but I’ll half-expect 3-3 as a final score…

Funny enough i can see a high scoring draw 2 decent attacks v 2 crap defences. Im just dreading what utd will do to us next week

        2. Going on the pre-season friendlies that don’t look a bad call, we look we’re a bit leaky at the back that they could exploit but neither do seem have a problem finding the net.
As you say Ardent should be an interesting game.

  2. if you analyze benteke statement and it hasnt been altered, there is a bit of bitterness and venom there, which brings me back to he was one of the ones told to find a new club, if we are contemplating spunking £100,000 a week for adebayor i feel that would of kept benteke here. i think we will have to wait for one of them to write a book before we can find the truth of it.

Cant see Benteke being told to go he went because he wanted to. Though I think the only thing he is bitter about is that a better club than liverpool didn’t come in for him

Yup – think he was waiting for a call from Arse, or Chelski – even ManUre – and then found himself going to the bin dippers. Wonder whether he knew that Liverpool was even further away from London?

Lol. Your right he def wanted Arse or Chelsea not sure about Utd. The ironic thing is he’s even further away from London now lol

They don’t employ reporters any more – just people sitting at desks picking-up anything off the web…

Pretty much every podcast I’ve listened to this week leading up the season have also been slagging Villa off too… Apparently Sherwood has signed a lot of questionable, risky signings and Villa are surely doomed for losing of course Benteke, but also the great English powerhouses of Delph and Cleverley. The same Delph who was good for at best one season and Cleverley who was never our player and rarely made a difference during his tenure. Also now that Lerner is staying all the supporters are despondent and besides themselves – personally I could care less about the sale of the club as long as money was made available. To be honest, I’m happy to have Lerner stay on – I can’t imagine what a world of trouble we would be in if we where sold to a Chinese owner before the market crashed.

I think it is fair to be cautious about Sherwood for the longterm, but I honestly believe the club is in a better position today than it ever has been in the last few years. For me, Fox and the restructuring of the club as a whole is making the difference – clear intent and direction.

Problem is Sherwoid has stated that all this season is about is avoiding relegation so you can’t blame them

  5. We have got to stop panicking lads, the season starts tomorrow, and so does our discussions whether he right or wrong, me I’m with what ever he’s doing till I see otherwise, we have been in hell for a long spell ,its going to end one day soon, the media know jack shit and guessing on every turn. We will not give in, we are the Villa fans.

Right on all counts Bill. Time to take stock is after 10 games – then there will be a basis for analysis and comment.

      1. Right on Hitch, give him 6 to 10 games I say.

6 games? Hardly time to build a team from all of the new arrivals.

I think if any manager is going to be judged in just 6 games then the Bin Dippers may well be looking for a new one before September’s out!

    2. Don’t get all this negative stuff. I think we’ve now got the basis of a good team but they’ll need time to get to know how each other plays.

As for the papers their aim is solely to sell more papers and I’m afraid the truth is very low on their list of priorities.

Looking forward to this season for the first time in ages.

  6. It Oohah again Pat , all doom and gloom. And we’ve not started yet. Get behind the team ffs.

The problem is we’re all so used to losing that we’re nervous that despite bringing in more better quality players it’ll be déjà vous. We just have to sign up to TS’ positive mentality and put the last 4 years behind us. Onwards and upwards – UTV

I think your right we could sign the whole Barcekona team and we’d still expect to lose tomorrow!

Not doom and gloom it’s a fact Sherwood has said our aim is to avoid relegation so moan at him not me!

  7. Changing the subject just had a lot of fun with this –

A lot’s happened while I’ve been alive and this reminded me of some of the good times as well as the bad.

Best 3 times with Villa for me –

    – Early 70s we got promoted from Div 3, what a fantastic time that was
    – Early 80s winning the League, European and Super Cups
    – Next season, it’s going to be a cracker

The late 70’s were pretty good too: Saunders’ team weren’t quite ready for the Big Prize, but could never be taken for granted by any of the then-top sides. I remember it as a time when no visiting team wanted to play at VP, and on their day Villa were capable of beating anyone.
