Garde out, Yorke in? perhaps not.

God, you’re lucky.
Not only do you support the finest club in the world, but you get to read my thoughts two days running!

Ok, forget that; I’m just in a daft mood at this stupid time of the day, where I’m about to go to bed.

So I saw this article where Dwight Yorke says “sack Garde and appoint me”.

I thought it was just a re-hash of what he’d said a few months ago, but it seems he’s quoted as mentioning nine games to go, so it might be relevant.

So bearing in mind that it might be a bit of creative journalism and I’d never consider Yorke as a Villa manager just yet, there is a certain point that struck home with me;

“You need more than that, somebody who understands the football club, who gets more out of the players and Remi Garde hasn’t been able to do that. Every interview he’s done, there’s no positiveness coming out of it – at least show some fighting spirit with nine games to go.”

And Yorke does have a point doesn’t he, when you look at it like that?

Garde definitely seems to have been playing things down, although I can’t say I blame him, given our position and the fact that he’s been stitched up.

And yes, Garde has been trying to play things up, to a certain extent, if you want to look at it the other way.
He’s still being quoted as saying we can beat the Swans and stay up on the OS.
But his comments haven’t convinced anyone, have they? And we all know that you have to read underneath to see what he actually means.

This is pretty much a throwaway post, as I don’t think Yorke coming in with an upbeat mood would have changed much.
But perhaps you might think otherwise?

Looks like I was right about Guzan then…

‘Oh, Brad Guzan. A nightmare. He comes to punch clear a free-kick and doesn’t get anything on it… the balls comes off the shoulder of Federico Fernandez and Swansea lead.’

Bit of a no-brainer really though

you couldn’t script this. even piss poor teams, beat us without actually getting anything on target. can’t question the effort, they are putting in, but no quality whats so. lacking confidence and zero quality game over

If any game sums up why we’re going down its that one today. Swansea are woeful, and we are worse – create our own problems and just nothing in the tank to do anything about going behind. Piss poor.

I also think that the ‘kids’ might be crap.

Story of the season – Swansea one shot on target and they win 1-0. Didn’t think we played too bad first half but within 10 minutes of the restart game over.

Here’s a stat for you. – Hutton hasn’t yet played in a game that we won!

Whatever the criticism of the defenders – Guzan should have got to that ball first.

    Onward and downwards!

Guys – bit harsh to write off Green – the kid is only 17 playing in a poor side lacking in confidence and quality. I thought he did OK.

totally agree, which is another reason, the manager is reluctant to throw um in before hes certain they can handle it. you have to remember under21 games doesn’t have anything like the same intensity as a piss poor premiership game. also a player like green would not have trained with the first team long. so the understanding you build up with team mates isn’t there.

Listened to the commentary on Talk Sport, Stan Collymore said that he finds it unbelievable that Cissokho has been at big clubs like Liverpool, Lyon and Porto and still has absolutely no idea how to defend. Can’t disagree with him there, Amavi will walk straight back in when fit.

Thing that riles me about this season is the utter crap of most of the teams….just shows how crap we have been….we are the most consistently crap team in the league…other teams have had spells of not so crap.

We didnt play well today, Swansea actually made us look good. Gana was the only decent player but he still gives the ball away way too often. Green is only 17, and I thought he was very positive when he came on. The rest were bang average as ever.

For next season, it would be nice to keep Amavi and Gana, but that might be a big ask. Along with the likes of Grealish, Gardner, Baker etc, we would have a decent side. The rest of the dross we should try and offload asap…Garde and his sidekick included.
