100% speculation; Monk as Villa manager?

Let’s get this straight from the off.
This is purely a thought in my head and there is absolutely no reason to suggest that what I’m suggesting is true.
In other words, low-life media; do one!

But it’s an interesting thought, as Gary Monk has had lots of plaudits for trying to play an attacking game and being a pretty shrewd tactician.
You’d assume he’s a pretty decent man-manager too, but I don’t know.

All good, you’d think, except he’s decided to resign from Leeds, because the new owners apparently wouldn’t commit to a long term contract.
And probably because he knows what the new owners are all about, in purely trying to make a profit from a short term ownership.
I actually feel quite sorry for Leeds, as they’re being used, but whatever.

So as an up and coming English manager, maybe Monk might be a decent solution for the Villa, if indeed Steve Bruce doesn’t get off to the start that we all want?

I know there seems to be a fairly big clamour for some up and coming foreign manager at any club these days and it’s hard to disagree, especially if you consider 5 of the top 6 championship clubs were apparently managed by foreigners.
But then, I think about how long these managers tend to last and it really isn’t long.

So while I know there are some of us that think we should go foreign, I can’t say I’m convinced.
We have a bad enough record, but would we want to do a Watford, who seem to change their manager every 5 minutes?

And while I don’t think Mr Monk will be out of work for long, maybe a bit of a background chat, leading to him not rushing into anything, might be worthwhile?

As I’ve said, Bruce needs to get the team firing from the off, or he’s a goner, in my opinion.

It’s just a thought.
