100% speculation; Monk as Villa manager?

Let’s get this straight from the off.
This is purely a thought in my head and there is absolutely no reason to suggest that what I’m suggesting is true.
In other words, low-life media; do one!

But it’s an interesting thought, as Gary Monk has had lots of plaudits for trying to play an attacking game and being a pretty shrewd tactician.
You’d assume he’s a pretty decent man-manager too, but I don’t know.

All good, you’d think, except he’s decided to resign from Leeds, because the new owners apparently wouldn’t commit to a long term contract.
And probably because he knows what the new owners are all about, in purely trying to make a profit from a short term ownership.
I actually feel quite sorry for Leeds, as they’re being used, but whatever.

So as an up and coming English manager, maybe Monk might be a decent solution for the Villa, if indeed Steve Bruce doesn’t get off to the start that we all want?

I know there seems to be a fairly big clamour for some up and coming foreign manager at any club these days and it’s hard to disagree, especially if you consider 5 of the top 6 championship clubs were apparently managed by foreigners.
But then, I think about how long these managers tend to last and it really isn’t long.

So while I know there are some of us that think we should go foreign, I can’t say I’m convinced.
We have a bad enough record, but would we want to do a Watford, who seem to change their manager every 5 minutes?

And while I don’t think Mr Monk will be out of work for long, maybe a bit of a background chat, leading to him not rushing into anything, might be worthwhile?

As I’ve said, Bruce needs to get the team firing from the off, or he’s a goner, in my opinion.

It’s just a thought.

We’re linked to more crap Barnsley players and some 24 year old from Lincoln City, can’t imagine why half our fans don’t trust Bruce or his crap transfers.

It’s why I don’t go for links and speculation.
But no doubt the hope is some of his buys will come good at very cheap prices.

We can’t keep laying out vast amounts, but there will be some decent signings, I’d say.
Then again, none of the winter signings have shown much up to now, so perhaps the doubters are right.
Me, I’m willing to give Bruce the benefit of the doubt.
      For a while, at least.

I don’t expect a lavish amount, I do expect some actual scouting too go on. He mine as well go manage Barnsley at this point.

That’s the crooks of the matter Nath, if Villa had been anywhere near top for two or three seasons sponsorships whould be better, that alone would get players interested in us, we have even today a massive fan base, clubs rub hands to have us at their ground. I’m in hope that we are a sleeping giant and return to the big times , please make it soon times running out for me. I have two grandkids playing football both Villa mad, the 10 year old has 50 goal under his belt and reminds me of a Gary Shaw, and a Lennon of today, i don’t think our scouts do enough Albion do because they’ve approach us but he will not go to the academy. I want my Villa back in the premiership and quickly please. Proud grandfather.

villa have lost their way. on field and off. today under the management behind the scenes. know their stuff. we fans need to get behind them. bruce might not be the long term answer in the beautiful game.but he is the immediate answer.

top players and managers don’t drop to our levels.we need to build up again. to each run of the ladder. we need to improve our youth players in quality and giving them chances. thats the only way for me.

look at southampton they achieve good football and finish high in premiership because they are run in a good professional manner. bringing through decent quality of youth. having a longterm plan. even when they have had to sell their best players they have recruited very good players for good money.

their model is not beyond villa. we just need to be patient bill, once we achieve promotion then we can start to regain our tittle of giants

i would guarantee us being promoted bill. so don’t worry. but promotion isn’t going to be easy. their will be about 7 or 8 teams that could win championship that is as competitive as it gets. but for me we will win the league. hardest battle will be changing the plan from promotion to surviving in premiership. we don’t want to be a yoyo club

Yes, I watched it again last night on Film4
I’ve recommended it before and it’s definitely a “must see” Bill.
Even the missus likes it and she’s not mad on footy really.

Some of the footage looks like all-in wrestling compared to todays game 🙂
And makes you realise what a load of wimps we have playing the game now.
Keegan and Bremner going at it, at Wembley 🙂

Michael Sheen plays a great lead part, imo.
You really ought to buy it Bill, should be well cheap now.

    In fact, it’s dirt cheap;

And can be had new for £3.

Very good film I watched it too. Makes me wonder what would of happened if we had Clough and Taylor instead of sir Ron. Would we have won Eu twice who knows.

Whilst, like every Fan I want to see a quick return to the Prem so we don’t get left behind, I also believe it’s imperative that we build a sustainable business model. It seems that we have significantly strengthened the commercial side ofvthe business having appointed a guy who was formerly commercial director for Wasps and before that Lotus F1. Apparently this guy comes with a lot of positives and is reckoned to be one of the best in the business.

We need the best in every department if we are going to succeed long term.

strong foundations. 🙂 I think we do have a great team off field now. football men as well. we have a decent football director in round. who knows his stuff. players and manager. their is no excuses for me next season.

I understand some fans being reserved in their ambitions. or like oahaha he would love us to be top and he will continue to knock us down. trust me we are going up and in style . this is based on facts lmao we are a club going places.

whether we will ever win the premiership or champions league is another story, but we will be in premiership soon so we have a chance lmao in it to win it

    If you can actually get the scouting right, you can do very well out of it;

“Monaco, whose focus in recent seasons has been on hoarding young, talented players whom they later sell on for huge sums, such as James Rodriguez to Real Madrid and Anthony Martial to Manchester United.

This summer they have already sold Bernardo Silva for an estimated £43m to Manchester City, with Benjamin Mendy set to follow him from the Stade Louis II to the Etihad Stadium.”

Yet Monaco apparently can’t afford Mahrez, because of his wages (min £100k a week). Or more likely, just won’t pay them.

The trouble is, not many clubs get to that sort of position do they?

I see Woves and Lambert have parted company.

Why on earth would their owners prefer to go along with an agent’s recommendations over the manager’s?
    Sounds well dodgy to me.

Hitch, Wing Yip owns the centre of Brum , if you look at that island by the old night out and the post office centre its his making, he owns Nechells and buying any house that’s on the market, and we moan about the Poles, makes you wonder.
