0-2 Villa win and our trip to Rotterdam!

Well, it appears things seem to be looking up a bit for the Villa. Buendia and McGinn with, I believe, two fairly similar strikes to sink Feynoord and cement a sound start to the Europa League. 3 goals scored, 0 goals conceded, 6 points. Can not complain at all. That being said, we’ve always been quite good in Europe, particularly at home, but great to see us turning up in away games too. Hearing their goal should’ve stood, however also that they should have had a blatant red card. Statistics show Feynoord had a lot of chances, not that I remember that.

Uniquely to, please correct me if I am wrong, myself, Bradley (who also writes on here sometimes) and a few others attended this game, just like every other away game this season bar Brentford in the league. To say it was a great experience to witness Villa’s return to Rotterdam would be an understatement, what a great day in what is being widely regarded by our fans as one of the best away ends in a while.

A 15 hour coach to Rotterdam and 15 hours back to Birmingham was the price we had to pay to get there, however it was actually quite a sound journey.

The meeting point for Villa fans was the Old Harbour (Oude Haven) and there was probably about 3,000 Villa fans. The allocation was 2,400 so a few without tickets, although there was a lot of spares knocking about on the day to be honest.

As for in the ground, we stood on stairs all game because there was no available seats. It is so much different to in Britain; no stewards in the stands, nets in the away end, and it’s like you’re in a box. Oh, and alcohol consumption is permitted in the stands, which is nice.

I have uploaded some photos but have not put too much to avoid it flooding the feed. Anyways, onto Burnley soon, which I’ll end up missing loads of probably due to driving back from Manchester, debating on whether to even go. I’ll go with a 2-0 Villa win.

U, T and V. 🙂

    1. It certainly was a night I will never forget. UTV.

Good win today too despte us making a meal of it.

  2. Looks like a great time was had by all.
Nice pics, but don’t drink so much next time. Then you’ll remember what happened 🙂

    1. I remember a fair share to be honest, even away games where I don’t drink as much I tend to not watch much of the game due to chanting, chatting and stuff.

  3. Yes, Malen looking good, just as we all knew he would with time on the pitch.
    Bogarde looks very competent too.
I’m not going to shout it too loudly, but I think Rogers is looking better too.
Decent performance and we ought to be at least a couple up on the balance of play, I reckon.

  4. This looks more like the Villa of the last 2 seasons. Much more energy and focus. Currently at 10th on GD!!
    Come on lads!!!

  5. Great write up Alfie. Super pics too!!!!

Burnley have gone quiet. Let’s hope it stays that way and maybe snatch another?

  6. So – Buendia is penalised and a yellow card for nothing and Fleming deliberate elbow not even a foul.

No wonder fans are fed up with the lack of consistency.

    1. 4 wins in a row Hitch! Looking forward to the Spuds game. Emery usually has the measure of Frank so it will be an interesting game!!!!
We were actually 10th at one stage. It’s very close…Looks like we’ve got our Villa back! 😁

      1. Spurs will be a very tough test to be honest. Gutted, don’t think I can go as I’ll be in Scotland, looking like I’ll have to sell my tickets.

  7. Ollie did very well for that first goal today with his hold up play. Malen and Guessand are both starting to look like two very capable forwards.
