I think Sylla was short changed by Villa.
He, Westwood and Delph started to gel well together at the end of Lamberts first season and when he played our win rate was good. He only joined in the January of that season.
The following season he never got a look in except for the odd 20 minutes here and there and cup games. Lambert was too obsessed with Tonev, Bacuna and playing Gabby and Weimann wide to let Sylla continue in midfield.
I wish he had been given more of a chance.

Wish him good luck. Never given a good run, could have been decent but we will never know.
However he will have the greatest song I remember for a while. One I wish we could use with another player as it can create an intimidating atmosphere like clubs abroad do.
“Sylla, Sylla, Sylla. He loves the f*****g Villa, Villa, Villa. Woooohwoooooohwooooooo….”
    Incredible.

I try not to rate players until they have had at least one full season if not two.
My friends enjoy reminding me how shit I thought Dwight Yorke after judging him on his first few games. He turned out to be one of Villas best ever players and one of my favourites.

Lowton has signed for Burnley on a 3 year deal.

I think many will agree that stripping out these decidedly average players is exactly what’s needed down the Villa.
If we can get decent replacements in (and I don’t mean more lower league cheap rubbish), things might be looking up.

Ultimately, in judging these players, you have to take account of where they have gone and how much has been paid for them. The players who have gone, or appear to be on the verge of going, have gone for very little to nowhere special.

The club will not progress until we get more players who have a worth of Delph and Benteke. If you look at pretty much every other player they would not go for big money. That’s why we are finishing near bottom season after season. Richards may be a step up from what we have, but we need a few more before we can start feeling positive. We may be paying a decent salary for Richards, but I doubt we would have bought him for £10M and paid that wage.

I fear we are in limbo (at least in regards to positive improvement) until the takeover (and it’s all gone quiet over there etc etc) happens or is declared dead.

      Totally agree about Richards.
      £65k a week – Bent’s £56(k) = pennies.
Seemingly very good business, if he performs as we expect.
      But we’ve spent nothing yet.

Bent, Weimann, Lowton & Sylla….Sherwood ain’t playing games here, Tonev next I’d have thought, with Richards in let’s hope that this is the bench mark for the summer.

      Never heard of him.
Makes me wonder who’s doing all our scouting, with all the players we’re being linked to, all over the place.

Finnish goal keeper. Tony Coton is my guess, handed him a trial while at United, and he’s our goal keeping scout so I’d guess him.

More out than in so far, which is a slight concern. However the departures have included nobody we need to keep. They have not included Gil – which is perhaps significant after the Wembley no-show by those keeping him out of the team. He is the one player we have seen briefly who looked to have something special, but he had obviously pissed off the Gaffer early on, and was down the pecking order.

I am still hoping for a goal-keeper, but not that clown from Burnley. Townsend would also be good whether to replace Hutton or play as a right winger – there has been a gaping hole since Albrighton departed in the squad, i.e. nobody who could take on and beat a left back.

Yes, let’s hope Gil stays. No-one can understand what’s gone on there and it can’t have been missed at the club about how the fans feel about it.

I still don’t feel that goalie is our biggest problem, but I’m not over-fussed either way.

Goalie surely can’t be our biggest problem. With Lowton sold and Cissokho told to leave, don’t think Sherwood would rule out selling Hutton or Richardson either, Fullback has to be the biggest problem area currently. Followed by an AM and then a striker for back up if Benteke happens to stay.

From Johnny Gould on twitter ….. The deal is… Delph to #lfc with Borini in permanently and Ibe on loan – plus £12m. It’s being discussed – but unlikely.

Another rumour, probably complete BS though.

      Yes, just read that.
Johnny Gould’s fairly reliable normally, I think?

I’d be disgusted if Villa accepted that and I really can’t see it happening.
What signs would it send if we were to sell our captain, who’s only just signed a contract?

He talks about in another tweet Sherwood being willing to sell him. Sherwood, selling a young-ish English player? Surely not, that’s what we’re mainly linked too.

But seriously I highly doubt that would happen. It’s about what his fee is, 20m, but then again no one knows what Sherwood is thinking so we could be looking at an upgrade to Delph if he leaves.

I didn’t rate Delph much before this last season, but I have to say I would be livid if such a deal went through.

It’s global knowledge Liverpool want rid of borini and now it’s reprted we will do them the favour of taking him and our yes please have our best midfielder, captain and arguably most loyal player to date.

Let’s face it guys we have seen worse…

Just to think this time last year we brought in Senderos, Cole and Richardson.you do have to laugh otherwise we will cry like little girls

why would we take the first offer for delph when talk is man city may make a bid as there desperate to sign english players to fill there quota . man city can pay cash and we would not have to take players in part exchange. i think this is bs.

I doubt Sherwood would want to sell Delph after publicly stating he was the best midfielder in the country.
But unfortunately who knows what players and there agents are saying behind the scenes. It is all about money.
Sherwood has stressed he wants committed players to the club.
There is a lot of BS going around at the moment. A lot of players / managers are on Holiday and we are on the verge of a possible takeover. I don’t expect much happening until early July when the transfer window actually opens and our future is hopefully resolved.
May be the new owners (if any) don’t want Sherwood – who knows. I certainly haven’t got a clue.
