    I think that Lambert should slow down with his purchase’s. Aston Villa need to sell a few players before we buy more. The wage bill is increasing and I honestly fear that we may be unable to sell all our outcasts.

      I think that if we don’t sell they will be released so they cannot drain the club anymore.Darren Bent is an exception as he was never a drain on club resources but is not seen as the future.As I said Bent,Ireland,Bannan,Given and Hutton all have been told to find new clubs…UTV

        I know they’ve been told to find a new club, but I can’t help but feel that they won’t.

            I think that Ireland may reunite with Hughes, Bent will probably find a new club. Perhaps Mallorca will buy Hutton.

            I think it’s convincing Bannan, Delfouneso that they aren’t Premier League level (just yet) and may need to play for a Championship side to raise their stock a bit

      Just had a look at him on YouTube do you think he’s the ability to play in the EPL? Fast but his first touch looks a bit heavy (imo) but if PL thinks he’s good enough then that’ll do for me.

    Newto the site but I have been readingfor well over a year. As far as the comment says about slowing down, we have lost Dunne who was on 40-50k a week and brought in new players who, combined, will be on less than that. Expect to see Bent, Given and Ireland gone in the next two weeks and that’s over 100k a week in wages leaving room for a decent signing on around 30k to show we mean business I reckon!

        Good to see us linked to that Japanese guy, he seems much better than Belhanda is anyway. I don’t watch much Bundesliga but when I’ve seen him play he does look the real deal, let’s hope we try again with an improved offer and they give in. They all seem to be players capable or have played “in the hole” so they’d be behind Benteke with Gabby and Weimann out wide I think. 4-2-3-1 is how I’d expect us to line up. Though, Lambert is unpredictable and may play something totally different!

            Typical tactic to increase the bid. I reckon £7-9mil for this guy and they’d accept. Look at us with Benteke. Firstly it’s no price and then it’s £25m. It’s a shame we didn’t go for that Aspas a year ago before the pool went for him. He looks the real deal.

    On the subject of Benteke, JD; if you want to see how tired and desperate the red-tops can get for a story this time of year, have a look at today’s “will Benteke move to Tottenham” “latest” in Mirror Football. It’s startling, sensational, up to the minute stuff. Apparently AVB wants to strengthen his front line, is after Benteke, and wants to do us the singular favour of trading Defoe in the deal… Crikey, the Mirror breaks a new recycled rumour every day.

        Breaking news from The Stun, mate;

        BALE TO VILLA SENSATION

        The Stun understands that Aston Villa are closing in on their number one transfer target, Gareth Bale of Tottenham Hotspur.
        Although he has made it clear that he will not allow Belgian superstar Christian Benteke to leave Villa Park under any circumstances, Villa boss Paul Lambert is keen to add to his striking options, and sees the promising Bale as the ideal choice to fit the bill. In spite of the fact that Tottenham have offered to triple Bale’s wages to 500k a week and extend his contract to 2030, the player has so far refused to put pen to paper on the new deal, fuelling speculation that his head has been turned by the allure of the Second City’s bright lights, and the prospect of joining Paul Lambert’s claret and blue revolution at Villa Park.
        Villa’s initial offer of £10 million plus Barry Bannan as a “sweetner” was not acceptable, but Lambert feels very confident that an increased offer of £15 million plus star playmaker Stephen Ireland will prove too much for Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy to resist. In spite of angry denials by Spurs’ boss Villa-Boas, sources close to the player suggest that Bale will announce that he is quitting the perennial north London underachievers on return from his holiday in Anglesea, and will join a proper football club by the end of next week.

      Think that was in the original offer Lambert made, but Bannan wasn’t at all keen on moving to London apparently, and wouldn’t agree to it. According to The Stun, we’ve now offered Ireland, who’s quite happy to move to London, as he doesn’t know what planet he’s on anyway. It’s looking good for the deal; the only potential hitch is that Ireland wants to put the deal on hold until he finishes his holiday in Brum about this time next year.

Spurs aren’t even in champions league and would mean he only went there for money. I really pray he stays though tbh and who came up with that figure!? we can get a lot more than £25 mil
