Sunderland 3 – 1 Villa; that’s exactly why we’re going down

There’s an old saying that says you make your own luck.
And the simple fact is we have none whatsoever.

Today summed up everything that says we’re going down and if anyone still believes it’s not true, well I’m afraid I can only say you’re deluded.

We were the better side for the first half hour until Sunderland scored from a long distance shot that got deflected leaving Guzan no chance.

Then we bought Traore on, who scared the crap out of their defenders and did well to set up Gil for the equaliser.
And then what happened?
Off he goes with yet another injury.

And then Defoe gets a chance where he only has one place to shoot (the near post) and Guzan doesn’t have it covered.
Shocking goalkeeping from a goalie whose confidence is shot.

Next up was a Sunderland corner, where it seemed we had 4 defenders near the corner flag trying to defend and no-one where it mattered, after some comical defending, resulting in Guzan again passing to one of our players only for him not to know it was coming and the opposition scored again.

I could go on about how the performance wasn’t too bad against another equally shocking side.
But what’s the point?

It ultimately boils down to the fact that if we can’t get a win against Sunderland, where do we see a single win coming from?

Wycombe up next in the cup isn’t it?
You just know they’ll want it more and I’m dreading it.

I have to hold my hands up here and say that if I was Lerner, I’d be looking very closely at what sort of players the manager wants to get in.
If any targets are aimed at Premier league survival, I’d say forget it.

This team needs dismantling, as too many of our squad just aren’t good enough for the Villa.

That said, I saw the look on Garde’s face a few times and it was pretty emotionless.
I suspect he knows what we are.
And it’s frankly rubbish.

May can’t come soon enough.

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde told BBC Match of the Day: “I’m going to try [to sign players]. In life and football you have to believe – if you don’t you have no chance. But it’s more and more difficult. But every season in every league, a side can keep losing and suddenly win four, five or six in a row. But for that probably we will need to bring in one, two or three new players.

“Today I didn’t see a side who didn’t give everything they could. When you concede so many goals it’s difficult to win games. You cannot be positive when you lose. I’m not here to lose – I’m here to try to make the team win. Today we were so close. We didn’t play badly. I can blame my players in certain situations – when you concede a goal, it’s always from a mistake. I see a team who wanted to fight. But we need some quality.”

Need quality my arse need a whole team lol

Relegation is the only way, a complete overhaul needed. The last three games were our only hope of catching up. It’s over now, dead and buried. Let’s just start playing some reserves and get them some game time as I think we will need them next year. No point pretending to be what were not anymore.

£100 mil wont change our course now it will be like trying to turn an oil tanker, sell who we can this window if Richards never plays for us again that will be too soon, how is that man captain, much as i think gabbys an absolute waste of a skin i could see him and traore make some mischief next year, dont think garde is the man for us either not blaming him but i dont think he knows how to set a team up or inspire them,we don’t get to see them train, but his favourites are the first names on team sheet okore/lescott looked the most stable back line, Sanchez is out for a bit why not play Richards in front of back line or clarke, the last five seasons we have no buffer in front of defence, previously they attacked our left back position, now other teams scouts know if they wait hutton will over extend and they can walk down the right side unchallenged.

no money should be spent this Jan for sure.. I have no idea how but we need to get some football men in at the top table. We can not allow anymore decisions to be made by non football experienced people.. And I’m afraid that means lots of people need to be sacked..from Tom Fox To Riley, the stats guys through to every single player that they have signed with the Benteke money.

Garde inheriting a bunch of shit players!!
And getting the same results that other manager been getting??? Villa forwards are poor no movement in final third! Defo movement gets him 2 goal today.
We boss 1st 20min bacuna has time and space from 20 yards and can’t hit fukin target….vertout was unlucky with his strike they go up other end there first chance and score deflective goal now someone til me wtf can garde do about that?
We got 7-8 championship player who simple aren’t good enough.
    Brad G
    Hutton
    Bacuna
    Rudi g
    Kozak
    Richardson
Jack gea hype got too his head and think he don’t have to work hard.
Gabby but do think gabby offers more that rudi g

Transfer over the next month will show use exactly what the clubs intention are!! If we can make 4 good key signing think are results will change but as for premier league status it seems very bleak.
Instead of booing and castrating are team and manager let get behind them and hope and pray that we can go on a winning streak and put little pressure on team below us.

Just seen garde interview and reaction to Big Sam and he looks like his hurting and pissed off it wouldn’t surprised me if his speaking randy & co to sort the players he want to buy by the end of the week!

Be very interesting to see how he copes with Championship football given his limited experience of English football.
Personally I don’t think he’ll see next Christmas at VP, imo he won’t cut it but we’ll see.

This lot have never been PL quality in my eyes and probably never will be:
    Guzan
    Hutton
    Bacuna
    Clark
(Most of our mistakes/goals conceded have come from these 4)
    Gestede
    (Wastes too many good chances)

    These are past it:
    Richardson
    Lescott
    Gabby

The rest I think a good coach would get the best out of. As a whole, I think our midfield could help out more defensively.

Also, I think Richards’ head has gone in the past couple of games and he’s making silly mistakes – I think it’s pure frustration/anger.

I think our back 4 should be:
    Cissokho LB
    Lescott CB
    Okore CB
Richards RB (like it or lump it)

Guzan should have been replaced at the beginning of the season.

And where was Ayew today? Another injury?

It’s got nothing to do with luck that’s for sure. We were on top versus West Ham and conceded a sloppy goal. We’re not good enough to create any luck. I make that three goals at least that have come straight from Guzan throwing the ball to a defender. Thankfully all of the fans that were demanding Grealish start have seen him for the utter waste of space he is. He walks round the pitch as if he’s won everything the game can offer when the reality is, he’s done nothing. And as for the fans hurling abuse – you should’ve hurled bricks. Four hours up there in a hurricane and they walk straight down the tunnel? I’d put every single player on the transfer list and start from scratch. These aren’t kids remember, we were paying £8m for some of them. NOT FIT TO WEAR THE SHIRT.

We shouldn’t be surprised that we’re doing so badly. We should be surprised we’ve managed to stay up for so long! For several seasons now we’ve consistently bought Chamionship players or cheap foreign players equivalent to that level or players that previously played for top PL clubs, such as Richards, Lescott, Joe Cole, Richardson, who were let go by these clubs because they were clearly past their best or not good enough. If it wasn’t for Benteke and Bent before him, we would have been down years ago!

  17. bencey83
    bencey83 January 2, 2016 at 8:30 pm . Reply

The problem is, other PL sides keep using the TV money to progress every season – just look at Stoke – and we keep going backwards every season. If other sides end up losing their stars (like Southampton), they use the money to strengthen the team, not to buy a bunch of second rate players. And we keep the players who are responsible for most of our mistakes!

Which areas have we actually improved in?

GK – still stuck with the same error prone keeper and 4 or 5 other keepers who we’re just wasting wages on!

Defence – still stuck with Hutton and Richardson and gave new deals to Clark and Bacuna (heaven forbid)! Swapped Vlaar for Richards, which I don’t see as a massive improvement. And swapped Senderos for Lescott, which I don’t really see as an improvement either. Bought in Amavi, but is he really any better than Bertrand, who I’m sure we could have convinced to stay with the right wages. Same is probably true of Walker.

Midfield – still stuck with Westwood, who is very average. Downgraded from Delph to Gana. Got rid of Albrighton, who always looked lively when we brought him on, and decided playing with wingers is old fashioned! Veretout and Gil show little sparkles of genius, but I’d like to see more from them on the whole. Adama is lightening quick, but seems to injure himself every time he breaks a sweat! Sanchez could be quality, but his distribution at times is troubling.

Got rid of Benteke and bought Gestede (no comment) and Ayew. Ayew shows potential and would have probably been a good foil to Benteke when played with wingers. Sinclair looks lively for 20 minutes and then fizzles out.

In short, we haven’t improved in any of the above areas.

Agree Bencey83 and Benteke has gone to the wrong club imo Liverpool don’t or won’t play to his strengths plus he really wanted a London move. If Sturridge was fit we could of made a cheeky bid to take him on loan till end of season but knowing our luck he’d be injured anyway.
