So why hasn’t Mutton gone?

It’s a basically simple question, this.
None of us Villa fans like or rate him, as he’s quite simply garbage. That plus the fact he was signed by big Feck, the useless one.
So “not rated” that Paul Lambert never gave him a look-in.

The truth is imo, that Lambert probably does rate him, but wasn’t allowed to play him, given the “get rid of anyone on a proper Premier league wage, at all costs” mandate that was handed down to him by Randy Lerner.
A policy that Lerner and Paul Faulkner thought could be easily be implemented and which just shows what they know about the way the game stands.

From what I’ve seen, Hutton could have gone to the Olbion and we might even have got a bit of a fee for him.
So why didn’t it happen?

I can only assume that there has been a change in attitude. One that I’d expect stems from the meeting where Lerner met Lambert in the US. Which is where I suspect Lerner had to practically beg Lambert to not resign.

It’s the only reason I can see for us totally reversing our alienating all the top paid players.

Is this blatently obvious reasoning?
Very possibly and I offer my apologies, if that’s what you think.

But the truth is, I don’t have a clue what’s going on down the Villa any more and it wouldn’t surprise me if there are other reasons behind what we’re seeing on the surface.
In other words, ulterior motives, which probably involve money saving.

As for the likes of KI or anyone decent, I’ll believe it when I see it.
Tough times.

I’m sure the baggies will be back for Hutton, from what I’ve been reading regarding his situation is he wants out but the club seem to be preventing it. I think Lerner wants to make the most of the dross we’ve got bar a few & maybe make a few tweaks here & there. Yet again premier league survival on a budget, looking at the fixtures if don’t get some points on the board from the first few games we’re fucked then it’s going to be one he’ll of a struggle there on.as I’ve said many times I’m not relishing the New season whatsoever.

Your not far out on that assumption Badger,(ref Lerner Lambert confrontation) he did it with that terrible manager we had when asking ,why have we got arse on seats with high wages not playing, yes I believe we have now got a turn in methods at Villa, and yet to see if it works.

Any “method” that Randy Lerner puts into action is doomed for failure.

Rob your right, Lerner failed in ever sense of the word football, he bought a club in England and picked the wrong people to show him the way, let’s blaim that on Ellis, he was the person that sold our beloved club just to make money, not as he said wanted someone that was in his mind solvent, Ellis if had my way piss him it of Villa park full stop, you know like me has one complete row of seats in the directors box, plus a boardroom, plus able to run Manor brewery from Villas ground, he’s a charlatan, full stop.get the lot out of Villa.

this mutton story is baffling but wot you guys are saying is about rite 🙂 my opinions are mutton was marked out as surplus when lambert arrived, but mutton wages meant shifting him was near impossible. banishing him to coventry didn’t work and now money is tighter than ever lambert has no choice, but to keep him cos replacing him, would cost us more than lerners prepared 2 spend ZERO buggie

i also think villa might be playing hard ball with WBA, hoping they increase their offer, their new manager wants a right back top priority, finally somebody wants mutton lmao and he might end up wasting another year of his career on our bench

Ok, Hutton will join Aston Villa on pre-season tour of the United States (The Telegraph).
Perhaps he’s going out in advance to buy the buckets and spades?

Hutton is a thug. The type of defender who is quite prepared to deal with opponents who can beat him for pace or skill by landing a tackle that takes the man out of the game, and quite possibly into the ambulance.
Do we have to keep him?

Keane wasn’t a thug mate but a top player, a top player and one that took great pleasure in kicking the fuck out of players that he felt were taking liberties something that all great midfield players do, it’s simply in the nature of the beast.

By all accounts Hutton has been pretty impressive whem playing for Scotland recently. No arguement he was pretty dire for AV under McDoom (who wasn’t) but perhaps we shoud keep an open mind?

I got slagged off on here for defending Hutton who I maintained wasn’t anywhere near as bad as most said. Yes he does have a nasty streak (shall we call it competitive??) but as a team we have been too nice for years. Every other team seems to grab a few yards for throw ins and free kicks while Villa often do the reverse. We need a team that will battle and compete, and we are too lightweight IMO. It’s not as if we are skilled enough to outplay our opponents either.

Hutton isn’t the answer to our malaise but he may just help a bit, if he does end up staying.

Spot on ds we have always been known as a nice team nice teams gets nowhere. Look at the opening game last yr when we actually bullied arsenal then took it in turns with rotational fouling. We actually started to mix it. Why we never kept that up il never no hopefully keane can get us playing like that. Hutton is prob the best rht bk Wev had in years and better than anything Wev got at the moment. Typical short sighted villa fans just because mcleish signed him that makes him automatically crap in their eyes. I would put him in at right midfield and get him to bully the opposition. Huttons the type of player we need now a fighter who won’t take any shit

I think he can be a bit clumsy but saying that we could bring a few other defenders into that equation.my concern will be his mindset when he does play for us after basically the club fucking him about, can you really blame him?? I’d like to see him given a run at RB be honest who else do we have with experience in that position who’s fit??he seems to play well in a Scotland shirt hopefully he can replicate this in the claret & blue.

I agree he’s worth way more but I guess a lot hinges on what Vlaar wants. Sure the club don’t have to sell him but running his contract down to the last year may backfire. He is probably in a good position to force a move if that is what he wants, and I guess you couldn’t blame him if he does.

After his World Cup performance if he goes to a club like qpr it’s a tragedy IMO. And further proof the sky four don’t think he’s good enough. Iv never been his biggest fan but he deserves at least a better club than qpr someone like spurs or Everton at least
