At the press interview today, Paul Lambert was quoted as saying about Scott Sinclair that;
“That’s dead, that’s not going to go anywhere,” he told reporters. “As far as I am led to believe it’s dead. We just couldn’t really do it, it just fell through.”
Apparently, it fell through in all areas, meaning the wages and the fee.
This is quite frankly pathetic in my opinion.
I can understand the wages part, as we obviously don’t want to pay the fifty thousand pounds a week or whatever it was even though this is by no means silly money in the realms of the Premier league.
Of course, many of us think he isn’t worth £50k a week anyway, but that’s not the point.
Lambert must have had an idea what sort of money Sinclair’s agent was asking and was hoping he might have been able to strike a deal. Else why would he have pursued it?
The part that really riles me though is the seeming fact that we couldn’t even agree the fee.
It’s been suggested that it was more that Lambert didn’t want to pay the estimated £3 million, but I don’t believe that’s the case.
I suspect that decision came from above in Fox or Lerner.
And if that’s correct, we’re being 100% run by a bean counter. That doesn’t bode well.
Never mind, Tom Fox has said Lerner is re-invigorated and willing to go again.
He’s like a kid with a new toy!
Which suggests that Lerner will put his hand in his pocket and buy us the quality we need to give us a better chance of staying up and hence protecting his investment, yes?

Quite frankly, I think we’ve been lied too again.
I’d expect another one player to come in, but nothing to excite us, probably around £1.8 million, which would make a massive £5 million kitty for a club of our stature, in our dire position.
Yet again, another big gamble on Lerner’s part.
You have to question the sanity of whoever’s making the decisions at the club, when you consider our lack of goals scored this season.
Never mind, that’s going to suddenly change too, according to Lambert.
We haven’t scored in nearly nine hours, but once we get one or two, they’ll come flooding in, no worries.

I’m getting sick of what’s coming out of the club and it really does seem that it’s treating us with total contempt, in “tell them what they want to hear, they’ll believe any old rubbish”.
Note the “it” and “us” in that sentence.
I really don’t feel we’re on the same side at the moment.
Enough of that and on to Sunday’s game against Bournemouth.
Are we feeling confident?
I’m not in the slightest.
We’re facing a free scoring team who, while they might find it a bit tougher against our overall decent defence, will still feel they can score.
The truth is I don’t even know who will be available, defence-wise and might update tomorrow or Sunday.
Either way, it’s not so important yet.
More important is the fact that we can’t score.
My guess is that Lambert might actually sit back against Bournemouth for a big part of the game and let them come at us, with the thinking that we can counter them.
If that’s the case, I’ll be fuming even more than I am as I write this, as it’ll show just how low we really have sunk.

There is a huge difference between where “we” want the club to be and where “they” want it to be.
Gareth, you always have to at least hope that we’re all on the same side in wanting us to do better.
The difference now is that I’m beginning to believe that Lerner really doesn’t give a toss, as long as we stay in the Prem.
That’s a big difference from what I expect from the club.

I believe it was his own doctor that f**ked his leg up well and truly.
Was nothing to do with the villa medics, he sourced outside help and they screwed it up.
He is back in training currently, not yet with the ball but he is exercising which is a good sign. He is apparently supposed to be back in contention near the end of March, however, if he is still not 100% I’d rather hold it all off till he is complete just in case we completely end his career. Really looking forward to his return.

I have no faith in villa. Spin us bullshits having us think that one or two more transfers are coming in. Lambert saying Lerner is backing him. Then we hear today that no more transfers. What the fuck is going on. As for Sunday I am hoping we win but can’t see it . 1 – 1 draw.
I still think Bournemouth will make as many changes as they dare on Sunday. The have messed up two of their last 3 league matches against Norwich and Leeds, though the Leeds game had every possible misfortune to stop them bagging a point, including its timing. But the fact is now 5 or more teams are right there challenging for 2 auto promo places and Bournemouth cannot afford any more injuries or suspensions to their first team.
Villa should win this but they will have to play a full 90, Bournemouth are strong finishers.
Sinclair didn’t want to come to the Villa, nothing about numbers apparently, as it was never a deal that progressed past a chat with his agent….. Cant blame him really !

I heard something a couple of weeks ago from somebody who reckoned he was in the know that Lambert doesn’t like Grealish.
The fact that Lambert has not even included him in the squad for the last couple of games and was looking to sign Sinclair (who hasn’t played for 2 years) and send grealish on loan and has now fined him for an inoccuous tweet just backs it up.
For me Grealish is far from the finished article but when he has come on in the last 15 – 20 minutes in games he has at least showed some intent to go forward and give the fans something to cheer about. After all the dross we have had to suffer under lambert it is a welcome relief

BWS I have to agree with you. Lot of hype around Grealish but he still has a lot to prove IMHO. The reality is, as fans, we’re like a drowning man clutching at anything to save us. I’m resigned to the terrible fact that we are a fast waning star heading for obscurity.
Steve does have a point regarding Lambert and our ‘own’ as he calls it, just how many academy kids are given any sort of a chance? And I’ve just read Danial Johnson’s been sold to Preston, he was doing well for Wigan and was highly rated.
Not given a chance or over protected from playing in a poor team getting beat each week or perhaps they’re just not good enough? RL may be the ultimate problem but PL is being dragged down by the mess at Villa and, as a consequence, is making an increasing number of poor decisions. I’ve been there in business and Lambert could well fold completely under the pressure. Sorry to be so cheerful 🙂

The telegraph says even if we are humbled by Bournemouth Lambert will still keep his job & goes on to say Lerner has admiration to how Lambert is coping with the financial restraints or words to that affects Soz don’t know how to link the article.

There is no question Lerner is the main problem at Villa, he is running the club on a championship budget to suit his own ends.
