Signing of Holt heralds the end of Lerner

Forget the player in Holt and look at the circumstances of his signing.

We can all have our own thoughts on the player but when a Premier League club signs on loan a Championship bench warmer and they still pay half his wages that says it all.

You do not have to be mystic mug to realise there is no money available to Lambert for either wages or a fee. Other clubs IF we needed to replace Kozak would have brought someone or not bothered. We have seen the Holt signing and possible Hoolahan one (certain he will join) and Lambert has had to change policy to go back to players he knows and cheap.

No long term planning there is it and totally different from last winter and actually we are in a better position (convinced we will not go down).

You remember Henke was signed then got another job, the club did not replace him, there is no Chief scout, that makes no sense as well

So why do I say this is the end of Lerner ?

Simple.

The £90M injected has clearly not been used for the team. I believe 100% we are financially in a position to spend. Not massive amounts but more like £5-10M players on 40k a week (PL average wage). So I listened to the stuff from Faulkner last night to Tom Ross and it told us nothing and interesting nothing for the future. except it will be better. Tom gave him an easy ride, was that the terms of the interview ?

I believe the club will be sold and has been on the market since Houllier left (that is when Lerner gave up), this £90M and very low wage bill for a club our size means it should be easy to sell to a person or company with ambition.

So if the club is about to be sold why spend more money than you really need to keep us up, in other words a mixture of cheap signings and loannees.

Lambert is so out of his depth at Villa its becoming embarassing.

His remarks after the Arsenal game were laughable. The gameplan was working until Baker got injured?? What? Our plan was to be camped out in our box and hope Arsenal didnt score!! The game changed when he went off as didnt have enough a centre back and so had to be play 4 at the back and be more attacking…hence we had more of the ball and even a few chances second half. Playing 5 does not work-we got lucky against City and Southampton, does Lambert not see this?! You cant regularly get results having 25% possession, its not logical.

true beano, that system can work but it requires some seriously good players to pull it off especially the wing backs and we just don’t have that quality how lambert cant see that is beyond me.

I think we’re confused about holt because he cant get in the wigan team in the league below us, if its a short term loan we can surely do better than holt ffs. I think holt is in as the experienced head but more to back lambert up in the dressing room, dunno how motivational or productive he will be for the squad but its clear we’re spending peanuts this window despite our current situation. this either means learner is way more confident about prem survival with the current squad and manager than me or that he’s sold or is selling up, or he’s got his finger on the trigger and has some one lined up to take lamberts place before the end of the window and is holding money back for a new manager.
or I could also be that no one at the club genuinely has a fucking clue what they are doing.

NM…Whos confused about Holt mate. Certainly not me:
Player breaks leg = get in short term replacement. Player recovers =short term replacement leaves = money saved (if we have any to spend) to purchase players in other positions = PL status preserved (hopefully) = dont see any confusion…please explain where your confusion arises…it all seems rational and logical to me….and its not too often I can say that about Lambert’s choices!

NM, I think clueless comes to mind, I genuinely think Lerner’s had enough and wants out, as for Lambert he has to be one of the worst in Villa history. Just how do we pick ourselves up again, again, and again, that’s real motivation for you when it’s a repeated statement every interview

Pathetic signing as I said before, an indication of more hoof ball on the way and a sure sign lamberk wants some of “his” players in the dressing room as he’s losing the plot.
Holt couldn’t even get in the Wigan side because Rosler realised that you can’t play proper football with a fat useless lump in the team but the crappy scottish managers like coyle and lamberk just love a useless fat target man to hoof the ball too.
Utterly embarrassing but thats the norm under this pathetic set up

You are soooooooooo Godlike LV. I wish I was you. I want to be like you when I grow up.
Have you seen some of the comments from the Wigan fans amazed we’ve taken the piece of shit off them? You’re thinking is correct about short term cover, but Lambert’s choice in Holt stinks.

God bless ya Langford! Did u see Rosler gave Holt time off to get fit so he went to the cinema instead! Lol! And one of the two goals he’s scored for Wigan bounced in off his fat arse!…very funny…if he was going to another club not ours!

i totally understand replacing an injured striker with another especially as a cheap short term option its that im confused about obviously, im confused because the guy is currently unable to get into the team he is playing for in the league below us, last time I saw him play he was clearly overweight and unfit about 10 yards of the pace of the game surely there must be a better option out there for the same money if not then I wouldn’t even bother with holt, waste of time in my opinion like I said if it turns out to be a good move i’ll be the 1st to say I was wrong but me and 99% of other people(viila and non villa fans)think its a bad move and well, laughably pathetic.
that’s what we are confused about.

Woah! Liverpool, start quaking in yer boots.

Forget SaS, for we now have… the B&H Superkings!

Ironically, I also forsee a lot of huffing and puffing on pitch, leaving us the butt of everyone’s jokes. Tar very much.

Only players who have played for Lambert before can understand a word he says. He could have phoned several goal aces on the Continent for all we know, but since they only speak English they hadn’t a clue who was calling.

I go along with the FOR SALE notices, the absence of Lerner from games he would in previous years have attended (eg v #1 Arsenal), seems a clear indication his interest has waned. He clearly has not got the cash, or has more sense than to waste it in the style of Gulf state sheikhs or Overseas Chinese gauleiters like Tan and Allam.

There seem to be more of these fame-seekers with Billions than I would have thought out there, so with luck somebody who has some clue about heritage will buy AVFC without wanting us to play in Yellow and Pink or rename the club Aston Lions.

Holt? Well he can read a challenge involving other players and knows where the loose ball will land. He also aims it inside the goalposts. That is two attributes we are short of in the current squad.
