I never rated Keane as a manager or a man manager.
I don’t rate him as a coach either and I said so at the time of his appointment.
The truth is I can’t stand the bloke, his actual playing the game apart, where imo he was bordering world class.

It’s easy to say so with 20/20 hindsight, but I knew this appointment was doomed from the off.
The appointment stunk and his departure also stinks.

Are we really to believe he’s left because he can’t handle Villa and Ireland?
    Total bollocks.

Something has gone on behind the scenes imo (the rumoured player fall out sounds about right) and his departure is yet another confirmation that we are currently a club in “massive turmoil”.
Or more accurately, a total bombsite, imo.

    Look at the facts.
Lambert’s support team get sacked and then the replacement leaves after a few months?
There’s something seriously wrong and if this was a company share, I’d be shorting it.

Could it be that no-one agrees with Lambert still being in charge, the owner apart?
Was Keane bought in purely as an “enforcer”, who couldn’t make it work with modern players?
That would make sense to me.

What price Fox leaves much sooner than we all expect?

It looks like Keane has jumped before the bloody lot of them are pushed. Fox seems too smart to have taken this job under false pretences though…

Oh and don’t forget the Given becoming temporary assistant after being bombed out, debacle either
My thoughts are that this is a total joke and the Lerner/Lambert combination is just toxic for the club.

    And the Circus rolls on!

I wonder what the next comical decision will be? Offload Benteke for 10m? Swap Delph for Cleverley? Appoint Clark as no.2?

Lerner..”look Paul, we need some stability here, after the debacle with Culverhouse we need a role model for the kids with a proven track record for coaching”,
        Lambert..”Roy Keane?”
        Lerner..”Good thinking..who suggested that?”
Lambert..”The bloke that sunk you financially and flounced off like a brat 5 day’s before the start of the season.”
Lerner..”Fuckin great idea, when can he start?”

ya honestly i couldn’t give a f*** .. its impossible to measure exactly what effect he had on the squad and we are not exactly much improved. for every one step forward we have taken another back in a different area this season.
impossible to tell what he had brought unless you can decipher what all the softly softly .. in his short time here …. >insert mild platitude< .. etc We won't know what the effect will be afterwards unless we take a massive step towards better football and results.
As for commitments taking their toll or being split .. etc etc .. the next Ireland game is in 4 months time. …what kind of massive commitment does that entail? ( . for an assistant coach to a part time job)

The net effect is 80% less media coverage of Villa in Ireland, and a little less circus ( in a good and a bad way)

Funny as hell the IrishExaminer believes Villa fans thought of Keane in a high regard. Guess they haven’t read facebook/tweets and are going off… Maybe Irish Villa fans? Lol What a joke. McGrath happy Keane is focusing solely on Ireland, even Gary Gardner tweeted he’s gutted Keane left and he was brilliant to work with.

It’s claimed Keane offered to stay until they found a new assistant but that was rejected and they just wanted to cut ties.

    Collymore asks some interesting questions:

1.Is the club any closer to being sold?

    2. Why was Roy Keane brought to Villa Park unless there was a cast iron agreement that Villa was his priority, he’s a “football man” after all, so did the manager sound out which of his jobs was most important? Seemingly not.

    3. What style of play are Villa actually playing? Passing team? Counter attacking? All i’m seeing is defending on the edge of the box? That’s not coaching, that’s hoping.”

Listening to Irish radio and an interview with Paul McGrath, who sounded good and healthy. It was great to hear the big man talking about Villa as we. His thoughts about Keane leaving where, “We (Villa) are having a bad time and Keane leaving was poor timing”. McGrath obviously loves Villa and was happy to recall his best days were at the Villa.

each to their own, the day i want the opposition beat villa is the day i stop supporting the team. i have disagreed with many appointments dr venglos and mcliesh 2 that comes to mind, but i still loved the club, managers like players, come and go in this fickle business. but villa will always be the home of football VTID

keano leaving, might release the players to express themselves. players like bacuna might step up, players like nzog might disappear from the squad hopefully. robinson will start i believe with weimann and gabby.

its a tough one to call but i think villa can pull it off 3 1 GOALS and 3 points

    NATH I can also see where your coming from,I just want to see the fucking back end of Lambert & if it takes 1 or 2 more losses then so be it.he’s now proven he’s not a long term fix far from it;

my opinions are different, but because i disagree, doesn’t mean i am better or even right. i stated each to the own. turf moor is gonna be a tough game, with them getting two wins on the bounce, so lamberk may get his wish, but will this mean lambert being sacked, i am not so sure. lerner seems to respect lambert, seem hes got a decent working relationship with him, i believe the way lambert will leave is if he walks.

i understand wanting him to fail and ideally losing to bradford or losing by a cricket score at stamford bridge or even the sheff utd game. but the next 3 games are vital in regards to the survival. losing 3points to each of teams around you is double trouble, people have already mentioned the bad records, lamberts created and the fact hes still here proves something,

Todays the day Giddy on Lambert imo. If Burnley pull 3 points today, fans that are now slill sitting on the fence will turn on him even more, I want my team to win today and not be in that bottom 3, Lambert has had his chance and all can see he’s useless as a manager.Fox must have had a message from Lerner and I think that’s why Keans gone, also today QPR and Leicester every chance we will Be.

I actually think Collymore has a point and i don’t really like his comments, he may be villa fan but he puts page visits, ratings and publicity first i Believe. he tends to play a little sickeningly on the “villa Fan, one of us” chord to get more listenings etc. I don’t go in for him much is what I am saying. (needlessly)
But ya watching the southampton game .. I am not sure what we were trying to do during that game. its a bit aimless to me. and our goal was a bit of a fluke, although a well taken fluke in fairness to Gabby. If he hadn’t of chased that down no one would have even noticed.
seemed the same way on a few games up to that but for smaller periods, but there is a trend of just players getting the ball and looking at each other and sticking their hands out by their side zazzy style pleading for instruction or a passing option.

I am a bit lost lads, I am not convinced we will improve any further under Lambert and the present conditions. I think avoid relegation while flirting with it like a slut is the prognosis.
I am resigned to say .. 3 years and its not getting any better over the course of a season, we have fits and starts. we have tried the passing game, the counter ( most successful) long ball, we havn’t played a wide game, as such, .. 3 at the back, 4 at the back, 5 at the back.
I don’t blame Lambert for this, I applaud it, he has tried to vary it and change it.
As for dropping players, I see many players dropped throuhout his time here, its easy to say this player should get a run or that player should, but honestly lads unless you are watching the training throughout the week, its nigh on impossible to call for that as a fan with any real sense of accuracy.

transfers, I think at best this was 60% Lambert, he tried the young and cheap thing, he tried the more experienced route this season .. it hasn’t worked, but I don’t think anyone here can call it wasted money, .. he brought in a high volume and played the numbers game and we managed to get Benteke, out of it at least, the clubs around us spend what spend in a summer on one player or 2 players and have had the same success rate
The issue is the scouting .. the funds etc.

Anyway … I don’t think I have the appetite or the enthusiasm to keep the glass half full for another season, I think Lambert cannot improve us at this point unless the scene in the background changed substantially, ie he brought in a top football man as a director or head of recruitment and the transfer funds increased.
I would love to see a very big name come in with a proven record as a director .. but thats pie in the sky ..
I just want continuity and a football plan .. not just a business plan. Ie when a manager goes that we have another in the same mould, no one can argue, the polar swings in player types and the type of football from O’ Neill to Houllier, to McLeish, to Lambert who really is sort of mixes of the the previous 3 at different times.

anyways, the club is up for sale, survival is the ambition funds are tight, the outlook is short to mid term and the football is not the priority to anyone, results are all that matters and we are shit at getting them.

So lets say Lambert is fired tomorrow .. honestly it won’t make any real difference.
You will get an out of work prem manager to plug the hole and possibly get the place going for a games but over the season will just get us there as practically as possible,
with lots of talk of him getting a chance to put his stamp on the team and sign some players,

Id say the villa players have septicaemia at this point with the manager stamping them.
In terms of Lerner change, complete fairy dust, the type of owner we want would have bought Everton or spurs or Newcastle by now if they existed.

they don’t, at best you will get a good time charlie along the lines of ashley or tan who will not bank roll us and who know less about football than Lerner did.

So .. I am a little despondent to say the least.

Only change today is Cole for N’Zogbia. What? Cole… Seriously? Should be entertaining watching him trying to… Run? Cleverley back out on the wing it is (most likely)

No as if he doesn’t even touch the ball, at least he can’t give it away the number of times N’Zogbia did. He was terrible. Rather see Bacuna get his shot but then he’s a winger so we can’t play one of those.
