Might mean that the Delph deal will. Like it that we’re being linked with reasonable players in the 9-10 million bracket though.

I thought Delph was made odds on to stay at Villa? I must be seeing things, anyway, John Percy has tweeted that Sherwood is probably gonna bid 7 million for Praet while Gueye completes his move today. I’d take his word over any daily mail reports, to be honest..

Not surprising. Don’t think we were ever getting any kind of owner but possibly an American. Lerner does seem to want someone he can actually trust. For all the hate, I do think he has Villa’s best interests at heart.

The talk around transfers, even though most of it is BS, does point to a more realistic investment in players this window. Lambert oversaw a period of reduction in losses to meet FFP and stop the bleeding of cash. Increases in TV money, maybe alongside an improving commercial outlook (under Fox), should mean that Lerner can invest more without necessarily setting the whole train careering out of control again. It must be obvious that he cannot continue year on year gambling with our position, and you would expect Fox to have argued this. Couple this with a manager intent on playing football that is more pleasing to the eye, and maybe it’s not all doom and gloom.

This takes me back to the takeover. If the talk was correct about someone being given exclusivity, this should really be completing very soon, or dying completely. If it had died I would expect something to have leaked. The Baggies have been a bit more open about their situation, admitting what stage they are at, and stressing that it is business as usual on the transfer front. I kind of like that Villa no longer conduct their business like Ellis did (lots of talk and little of substance). However, the information vacuum that leaves is just filled with speculation, and it just gets on my nerves occasionally. Maybe a little bit more openness from the club would help here.

    1. Andrew
      Andrew July 3, 2015 at 5:39 pm . Reply

Legally can’t talk about the takeover. So a little more openness would be suicide for them.

        DSVilla July 3, 2015 at 6:03 pm . Reply

Really? i would have thought the club would be free to announce it had entered a period of exclusivity with an unnamed party, and even to update that it was progressing, and set an expectation of the timescale. How come WBA have (supposedly) come out and stated as such?

        1. Andrew
          Andrew July 3, 2015 at 6:31 pm . Reply

My guess because the new owners of West Bromich (if true), don’t care. Lerner’s supposedly rejected them, and the current in-talks possible new owners don’t want anyone to know.

Dont believe the WM police bollox for a second! Just because they dont want it played Saturday that it had to be moved to Friday….Sky could have easily moved it to Sunday/Monday? Feel sorry for ST holders! This is one of the main reasons why I, and many others choose not to buy a ST. I refuse to let Sky dictate to me when I should watch my club. Bring back Saturday ONLY football or have just one live game per week…..and yes, I know its all about revenue and it wont be changed……..Sky are killing the beautiful game IMO!

Me too Langford. I would find it pretty irritating if I lived a bus ride away, but when you are driving 250 miles round trip per home game, the drive home from night games ending in the early hours needs matchsticks to keep my eyes open. So I had to give the ST the heave ho. Now I too watch most Villa games on computer, my Russian is coming along nicely. A pity the rojadirecta site got blocked by the High Court -but thankfully they are clueless about the workarounds.
