Garde hasn’t gone yet, but Moyes is chomping at the bit to manage us.

_64444653_david_moyes_getty

Well, ok maybe “chomping at the bit” is a bit of an exaggeration, but the Mirror seem to think that he’s definitely interested in taking charge of the club.

I’d seen something similar earlier, while glancing at the news yesterday evening, but this article goes further in suggesting that the Villa are the only club he’d contemplate going into the Championship for.
Which is a pretty strong suggestion, if you consider that Newcastle and Sunderland might well be coming down with us.
Some might suggest that they’re at a similar level to us, after all.

So what’s changed between when we apparently sounded him out a while back and now?

Well, Moyes openly said all along that he was committed to the Sociedad job while he was wanted, which is admirable and fair play to him.
But I wonder if he said privately, that he’d love the job, if he was in the right position at the right time?
And if he could have the shout, with no transfer committee undermining him?

I wouldn’t go as far as to suggest that there was some sort of verbal agreement done, but I do wonder if there might have been some sort of understanding declared, as in if it suits both parties, it’s game on?

While I often doubt the Mirror as a source, we have to remember the Evening Mail is a sister paper, so you just never know if there might be something in this.
That said, Garde was apparently gone yesterday and it hasn’t happened, so all papers talk proverbial.

Moyes has consistently been amongst the candidates as Villa manager over the last few years though and to me, it’s understandable. He just seems a very good fit, for some reason.
While he was on a hiding to nothing at Utd, he did a very good job at Everton, another club who were until recently seen as at about our level.
But I do wonder if he still has that “spark”; that something that sets top managers apart?
I’ve advocated Moyes in days gone by as a good choice, but now, I’m not so sure.

As a manager to take over a struggling Premiership club, I think he’d be fine, as he’s pretty solid and knows what’s wanted.
But as the man to get us promoted again, I have serious doubts.

Basically, I wouldn’t know what to think if we were to appoint him; hence I’m asking your opinions.

And why do I have a sneaky feeling this story has been touted to see what the fans think?

Whatever, I’m happy to oblige and a poll might help;

Why is nobody mentioning Sean Dyche, best manager in the Championship by a mile, ok we’ll have to pay compensation [again!] to get him, but it’ll be worth it to sort the bloody mess out!

Dave I think he’d welcome being known as a good premiership manager, you need to be in it to achieve that recognition.coming to us would be a step backwards

Dave, I think because Burnley are likely to be promoted so Dyche will want another crack at the premiership.

Moyes would be A good choice the only good players he let leave were roony for loads of money. Our miss management of players has been terrible Cahill just been made England captain and Albrighton just won the league lol

I take on board your comments guys that Burnley will be back in the Premiership, in fact I think they will win the Championship, which is a remarkable achievement if you consider how much money Hull and Middlesboro have spent. If it wasn’t for injuries to key players, and Liverpool snapping up Danny Ings I think Burnley would’ve stayed up last season.
I honestly think that Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche are the best young English managers out there, I’d much rather either of them to Bruce, Moyes or Pearson.

Surely Dyche could be persuaded to join us, Burnley are a good old club but we have so much more potential.

The last two times we were in crisis we turned to straight talking, no nonsense English managers, Ron Saunders and Graham Taylor, they didn’t do too bad. I see similarities in Dyche.

Quite a lot of information now coming from Bernstein much of which reinforces what the supporters have been saying but also outlining how the football Board will work which should be a huge improvement on the last 8 years.

Although we all know this should have been done years ago it gives me hope that we will be strong contenders next season.

If what Bernstein says come to fruition, we should see more changes in the next week or so – he gives the impression they won’t wait until the end of the season to get a new manager in which suggests one of those available rather than currently employed. It might also rule out Pearson who seems to fancy the Middlesbrough job.

H60, seems you are right. Remi is digging his heels in for as much money as he can squeeze out of the club after overseeing our relegation.

Not such a perfect gentleman then. No better than the shower of s#$t that we call a first team squad.

Hopefully he will be gone next week, or he gets both barrels from Villa fans against Chelsea.

Worst manager i’ve seen in 4 decades at VP and worst manager in premier league history. Please f#$k off Remi!

Looks like Reilly will follow the rest of the chancers out of the door and good riddance. Seems that Bernstein and Hollis are at least moving in the right direction. Hopefully Krulak will never darken the doors of VP again either

Interesting news coming out that Riley told Garde that the 4 players he wanted told him they weren’t interested in joining Villa, but when Garde contacted the players, they said they were never even contacted by Riley. I think that honestly says a hell of a lot.

Also there’s claims again this time of the season where Lerner’s linked with a potential sale of the club and that’s why the change of the board is going through.

Some interesting and alarming information over mismanagement at the club being reported in the Telegraph. Nest of vipers springs to mind. No wonder we are in the sh*t.

People reporting potential sale is the reason behind the appointment of Hollis et al. More likely Lerner just decided to shake the tree to see what fell out!

Seeing it’s as per usual not Lerner making the claim, don’t see how he’s bullshitting. Bar the one summer he actually put us up for sale, he’s not making these rumours up.

I think garde was brought in solely to try and save riley and amstadts skin. they signed all the French speaking players and perceived Sherwood could not get the best out of them and hoped a French coach could.

the Birmingham mail is saying there is serious interest from potential buyers.
just as we see a board with some know how being put together. where will a sale leave them.
I hope its not another start again.

Steve, they’re also saying the new board is linked to closing the sale – that may have arisen from a soft due diligence review. Only time will tell – there gas been so many false dawns.

Anyone listen to radio 5 the other night, [think it was Thursday], they devoted half hour to Aston Villa. The interview that Pat Murphy did with Remi Garde was the most honest and scathing of the players I’ve ever heard. Remi basically said that a lot of the players are not doing what he is telling them to do in training. Pat asked him if he thought enough of the players cared if Villa go down, he said NO, it doesn’t effect them personally if the club goes down or not.

Pat, the guy who hosted the show and the ex Leicester player [think it was Matt Elliot] who was on the show were staggered by the interview. I was starting to think Garde was a bad manager, but no longer, a lot of the players are completely to blame for this, they really couldn’t give a shit, and the fact that Garde was given no support in the transfer window was a complete disgrace.
I hope he takes the penny pinching bastards for every penny he can, the blokes been treated terribly.

      DaveC,
That told me it was the case on the last day of the window, I say now everyone of them so called footballers should go, they fail to see that us fans are the people to suffer, no respect for club, fans, and to be honest themselves. I’m not going to give the club one penny till I see the back of Lerner, they can get whoever into the team ,its him I’m after over the fact he sits and don’t bother coming over anymore. He’s ruined a great club by being a thick no brains in sport American., good riddance I say.

Dave, if I went to my boss and said the reason we are going out of business is because my staff won’t listen to me, I’d expect to be fired on the spot. He is a manager and paid to manage. I’d relieve him of his duties and tell him to be at VP everyday and sit in a corner office, while someone who gives a shit takes training. How long would it be into his 3 year contract before he says, “but I need to be in France for my new directors position at Lyon”.

I felt sorry for the man, but now he makes me as sick as the underperforming players do.

daveC i have been saying this for ages, our current crop of 1st team players. are in my OPINION the worst ever to wear the clubs colors. not only are they mostly talent-less,but they haven’t tried at all for most the season. remi gardes has been undermined by most of them. the so called established ones like richards gabby bacuna instead of helping to create a united dressing room, have destroyed the team morale. only the last 2 games have they worked like a team.

the new board need to review the players like they have the old board members they fired. because these players like the old board are a big reason why were are heading down.

bacuna wants to play champions league with ajax lmao i thought it was easter not aprils fool day
