It’s been a bit of a busy week behind the scenes for villa, most of which are uncomfirmed rumours with the only solid news being the confirmed 4 year deal with Grealish. Good news none the less. So lets look at the others,
Vlaar has been covered by Badger and the comments show a nice mix of opinions. I like Vlaar, I think he is good for the team, but if the rumours are to be believed (and I don’t really trust the star) then my opinion will change and I believe we should not bow down to the “demands” and double his wage. I would rather see the player leave the club because he is more interested in money than he is in the team itself. Maybe this is a silly point of view, but it really does anger me that wages of this magnitude can just be demanded and delivered. It really is a different world.
In bright news, the word is slowly seeping out that Delph has been offered a 4 year contract. This is something a lot of us have been waiting on, and if past interviews are any indication, he wants to stay at the club. Again, this is unconfirmed, but it seems fitting as he will be out of contract after this season and I trust him to sign a new deal with the club.
Last but not least is the non league 17 year old defender Ben Swift
The Rotherham United player is currently on trial at the Villa. I am unsure on any stats for this youngster but it’s good to see that Villa are still having a positive look at the the youth and future of the club.

Apparently he’s training with Villa tomorrow and Friday and will play against Leicester in the U-18 game on Saturday. According to his coach he’s
“He’s dominant in the air, his positioning is very good and he’s strong and fearless in the tackle”

We should offer Vlaar and Delph 50k a week. Backbone of the team. Isnt Benteke on about that anyway? If we can tie those players down then we have the basis of a good side.
