Tim Sherwood has been busy this week securing some key signings. It’s rumoured that Nantes midfielder Veretout will join the other two Jordan’s at Aston Villa this season with an alleged £10 million bid accepted for the midfielder set to replace Delph this season. Additionally it’s strongly believed that Adebayor will be arriving at Aston Villa this season for a full season loan deal with a view of a permanent transfer.
Let’s start with Jordan Veretout, at the age of 22 he is a very young, yet very highly rated central midfield. He topped the Ligue 1 charts for more chances created. It looks as though Veretout is set to be the replacement for Fabian Delph who has recently moved onto Manchester City.
This move has been confirmed by Nantes President Waldemar Kita who told L’Equipe:
‘We are basically agreed on everything,’
‘I am obliged to give in, he is 22, he has a big future and he will play for a great English club.’
Veretout has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham but it looks as though Aston Villa have made the first move to bring in the young French midfielder.
Additionally, rumours are strongly linking Adebayor to Aston Villa. This rumours don’t stem from tabloids themselves, ITK rumours and people who know friends that work for Aston Villa have also confirmed that Adebayor is set to sign a 1 year loan deal with Aston Villa. It seems as though Adebayor will be Villa’s replacement for Benteke with Sherwood convinced that he can get the best out of Adeabyor again after he scored 14 goals during the 2013-14 season with Tottenham.
Jordan Veretout expected to fly in to Birmingham over the next 48 hours.. Nantes president has said veretout has made his decision in which way he would like to go.

I am quite positive he will sign with us. Great player I really look forward to seeing him in a villa shirt
Reports £2m for Baker to Burnley. Take it and put it towards a top 10 centre half…
I’m a little surprised about this Baker news. I feel like he developed a lot last year and is starting to become a decent player. A little injury prone maybe, but as a back up option I’d rather have a maturing English acadamy graduate with a connection to the club than £2mil worth of potential as replacement.
And a nice behind! 🙂
If we sign Adebayor may I be the first to say we will have a ‘Triple A’ strike force. If I was Tim Sherwood I’d play Agbonlahor, Adebayor and Ayew up front just so I could drop the phrase ‘Triple A’ strike force into every post match interview, even if he goes 4-4-2 he could call it Double A!!
And a lovely behind! 🙂
Now being linked with Mike Williamson – barcodes CH. Used to be a good player; now 31 not sure about this for a signing? The way it’s going we could be linked with every player going over the next couple of weeks!
Never heard of him.
There’s a surprise! 🙂
Supposedly had a bid of €18m accepted by Marseille for Florian Thauvin but the player rejected us to stay at the club. Also rejected Newcastle. Seems there’s still a bit of money there.
Interesting he is an attacking midfielder/winger I believe. Good player too. So it seems we are still looking for a quality attacking wide mid and as you said with a bit of money left.. still looking in France too it seems.
I don’t know if goal.com is reliable but it says veretout flying over today to complete the deal, they say Leicester bid €5 mil higher than us but he’s choosing us.the do say we need to get a move on before he’s taken from under our noses.I’d have a link but can’t do it
read a report some time ago saying only 50%of transfers were successful, well if only half of what we have got so far work out, i think were in a plus plus situation compared to previous seasons. p.s. is this scout the same guy that houlier put in place and scouted benteke.
Depends how u define successful. Sky four signings usually work out much better than 50% imo
not on about how good the players is, its about being a good fit in the team they are joining and sky four it looks like its a less hit rate than 50%where they seem to buy players to stop someone else having them with no thought on using them.
if we get veretout and Adebayor then what we all thinking…more goals from midfield so a good goal scoring attacking mid for me and a centre half – £10m on each would do nicely.
Plus still a shite defence no point scoring 2 and conceding 3
Would love vertout my mate who supports st ettienne recons he is a great player who always stands out . get rid of insomnia hes never had a good game since he signed.
Heard from a reasonably reliable source (not claiming to be ITK) that has good working relationship with Villa that we will be signing Cambiasso. Don’t shoot the messenger but the source is normally very honest.
Crikey H60 I hope this materialises, with Veretout, Adebayor and Cambiasso and the other signings I am getting very excited..
I would be a bit disappointed if we signed Cambiasso and not Veretout, but he is clearly experienced and if he can fill the gap Given left in the dressing room then I welcome the move. I just don’t know how much game time he would actually get, although on the plus side surely N’Zogbia would be off if he signs.
Bit off topic sorry, but what’s everyone’s thoughts on how pre season is carried out these days? Seems as though the majority of Premier league teams are going to far stretched parts of the world to play marquee matches. Obviously more for the overseas fans and chasing the dollar, but to what effect long term. I’m quite glad Villa only went to Portugal and are playing lower league/local opposition. Flying here there and everywhere doesn’t seem like good preparation to me. It’s no surprise that some of the sky 4/top 6 get caught cold at the start of the season and you encounter some surprise results.
Given the FFP there is nothing wrong with clubs going abroad to stir up new revenue, exposure, and sponsorship, although you are correct it does negate the whole point of a preseason. I can’t imagine flying 12 hours here or there every few days helps prepare a squad for the upcoming season.
It’s nothing more than marketing mate…and a bonding aession I guess for the players…
Anyone watching the Inspector Lynley Mystery re-runs on the Drama channel? Bloke looks just like Tim Sherwood!
Inspector Tim Lynley? Lord Horatio Sherwood?
Max Jacobs has said Veretout and Adebayor are expected to sign for villa before the end of the week.
Also stated there isn’t any truth in the berbatov rumour
On balance, I would rather we signed Gestede than Berbatov, although the latter might sell more tickets which would make OohAh happy (maybe) 🙂
I think we will blow vertoute deal sounds like we are haggling over pennies ala deadly Doug
BLACKBURN Rovers have confirmed to the Lancashire Telegraph that striker Rudy Gestede is in talks with Premier League outfit Aston Villa.
A fee has been agreed between the two clubs
http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/13508835.Blackburn_Rovers_striker_Rudy_Gestede_in_talks_with_Aston_Villa/?ref=mac
Which suggest the Berbatov rumour is just that – probably started by his agent. Gestede scored 22 goals last season – more than Rhodes who gets all the media attention.
Gestede looks a good striker. good in the air and on the ground i would rather we sign him than berbatov . come on villa get the finger out and get the vertoute deal done.
wonder why Adebayor is taking so long its meant to be a simple deal ,spurs want him gone we need an experienced striker . ahhh its the daniel levy factor always makes a deal a long drawn out process with his well known hardball mentality.
if i was sherwood i would just get on with other signing and let levy sweat a bit longer.
Yes, Gestede Would be a good signing IMO. Probably find that Robinson will go on loan to Blackburn as part of the deal
some reports this morning we have agreed the transfer fee and he is now discussing contract terms. maybe Adebayor has just been a smoke screen. please be so , please , please , pretty please 🙂
Veretout looks a class act, powerful with some nice touches. Thank f##k the berbatov link looks bull, gestede will do a good job and with agbonlahor, ayew, addy, Robinson, kozak it will mean good competition with variety of set ups possible. Think sherwood is doing a good job, squad needed changing and doing it so quick is a good job well done!! Addy on year loan is no brainer, he will be keen to make a point like when he first joined spuds
