Would like to see Westwood be more dominant in midfield-1 year further than 2017 about right isn’t it?

Agreed Adam; I’m a fan of Westwood – bit like Des Bremner, an essential cog in the team whilst the other players grab the headlines.

I’d agree with the Carrick comparison too. Seems like Jack and Gil are back in training. Maybe TS was throwing up a smokescreen…

Has Cornwall not caught up with the internet yet??? Ooooooooooo Aaarrrrrrrrrrrrr! “I am a cider drinker, I drinks it all of the day…”…or was that Somerset?

Jack and Gill went up the the hill, both to stuff United,
Gaal did trip on Rooney’s wig,
          And Villa fans got excited!

Highly rated, quite talented, can play on the wing or as a support striker. Hopefully a replacement for Gabby.

I never thought I’d say this about the Villa but I think I’m getting a severe case of transfer fatigue.

    Symptoms –

    – Head swimming with at least 4 new players being linked with a move to VP every day
    – Memory problems: Never mind not being able to put the face to the name I can’t even put the name to the position!
    – Memory problems 2: Which one’s our team again??? Is it really the one in yellow?
    – An unreal sense of euphoria as the fact that we might actually have the makings of a good team finally sink in

    Long may it continue 🙂

      I know what you mean.
The part that’s hardest to get used to is that almost all of the rumours concern young players from the French/Belgian/Spanish/Italian leagues; so used to Villa being associated with older ‘donkeys’ or Championship/League1 players that this is all very ‘odd’!

According to the B.Mail, Sherwood is still looking to offload players before the window closes. The usual suspects are named, N’Zogbia, Tonev, Senderos… but then there is Kozak.

I don’t get it. Much like the Gil saga, I have to believe Kozak showed in pre-season to earn himself a chance. Personally, I think he offers something different than any of our other forwards, Gestede included.

According to Sky Sports. Apparently if he signs we (TS and the management team at Villa) will have pulled off a real coup. TS said that if we survived last season we would never be in the same position again. Big words but it appears we may just have woken up to what is required to be successful in the PL. Of course it probably has nothing to do with the mega bucks that come on stream next season – could it?

@H60 The megabucks apply to all PL teams but Villa seem to have done the best business of any PL club IMHO.

They’ve managed to attract young quality players, many of who could have joined any PL club but they chose us.

Of course you need the money to fund the deals but I think that Tim, Tom and the team are somehow persuading this new talent to join us and not someone else. Must be a persuasive bunch!

I think the £45m we got from selling players helped a bit as well. Think about would you rather have Delph and benteke with a load of dross or the squad we gave now?

No argument OohAh – it’s the media that says we lost all our best players; compared to the rest of the squad they may be right but that doesn’t mean they were good players! For me Delph, Cleverley, Vlaar were far too inconsistent so Benteke was the real loss in terms of the goals he scored.

The major concern on here was not who went but whether RL would reinvest all the sales income plus a substantial sum on top including restructuring our wages to attract better players.

Think those questions have been answered – on paper we have the best squad seen at Villa for years with a frightening amount potential. Up to TS now to price he’s one of the brightest managerial prospects in the PL.

At last looking forward to football again – even the manure game; we might even nick a win!

Hope so Hitchens. Your right Benteke was the main loss couldn’t give a monkeys about rest of players that have gone except maybe Weimann who might have done well under TS. Bear in mind that Benteke only gives us a good quarter of season due to loss of form and injury and he isn’t much loss either especially now we’ve got Gestede.

I said some weeks ago that I felt that Lerner would reinvest all the money from sales plus £15-20M extra. It just seemed logical given the uplift in incoming revenues that the penny would drop that Villa could not afford to gamble on survival again. The reshaping of the team is fantastic, and I don’t expect us to be anywhere near relegation this year. It may well take some time to gel, but we should have a very strong team. I’m not sure where we are on numbers of players and plans for additions, but I would prefer another CB just from an injury POV, a new RB, plus Traore of course. If there was room and cash I would go for Praet as well, as our midfield options would be just stunning.

I will be heading back to VP this season, after last attending during the Macleish season. I would even buy a season ticket but I will have to miss quite a few games so I guess it makes more sense to buy when I can go. My head is just buzzing with the changes though, and I have already forgotten about those who have left.

      That’s the spirit Bill!

The thing that really used to depress me about Lambert’s Villa was that there was no fight whatsoever.

I’ve got a feeling that, win or lose, we’ll see a completely different Villa team both literally but more importantly in how we play. We’ve got a new spine that has actually some spine!

      Enjoy!
